Girls's Soccer Team Back TO Regional Finals For Second Time In Two Years

The Greenbrier East girls' soccer team is back in the regional finals after making the state tournament two years ago for the first time in school history.

The Spartans defeated the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles 2-0 on Tuesday, October 17, and followed that up with a 5-2 victory over the Princeton Tigers on Thursday, October 19.

East's Spartans Fall To Parkersburg South

The Greenbrier East Spartans (1-7) felt very strongly that their second win of this season was going to come at the expense of the Parkerburg South Patriots (3-5), but, unfortunately, a couple of early mishaps set the tone, and East suffered a 29-12 defeat on Friday, October 20.

Early in the first quarter, Spartan quarterback Kyle King, who also is the punter, was back ready to punt the ball away.

Spartan Coaches Koon, Parks Stepping Down

As of November 14, the Greenbrier East Spartans Athletic Department will be on the search for new golf team coaches as Terry Koon and Mac Parks are resigning after eight years on the job.

It was admittedly a very tough decision for Koon, as he has a great passion, not only for the sport, but for the kids, as well.

Spartans Upset Red Dragons in Game One of Regional Finals

If an offensive baseball game was supposed to be played this past Tuesday, May 23, at St. Albans, then a typical fan would have been highly disappointed. However, if it was a Greenbrier East Spartan upset of the fourth ranked Red Dragons, then East fans came back happy.

Spartans Beat Beckley to Claim the Region Three, Section Two Championship

After a 17-7 thrashing of the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles in the first round of the sectional tournament, the Greenbrier East Spartans replicated the effort in the semifinals when they again defeated Beckley 9-2 to claim the Region Three, Section Two Championship.

Spartans Stomp Woodrow Wilson in Sectional Play

After waiting almost a week to play, the Greenbrier East Spartans and Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles baseball teams finally took to the field on Monday, May 15, in the Region Three, Section Two tournament.

Spartan Baseball Crushes Riverside to Advance for Matchup With Beckley

The Greenbrier East Spartans baseball team pounded out 14 hits, scored nine second inning runs and cruised to an easy 15-2 win over the Riverside Warriors in just five innings in the first round of sectional play.

Spartans Beat Nitro, Fall to Cabell Midland

The Greenbrier East Spartans got back on the winning side of things this past Thursday, May 4, when they downed a solid Nitro Wildcats team 9-5 behind four runs driven in by Daylon Colley, but then suffered a tough 4-0 defeat at the hands of Cabell Midland the following day.
