Ralph Ray

Ralph Herman Ray, 96, of Maxwelton, WV, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019, at his home.

Born on November 13, 1922, in Anthony, WV, he was the son of James Alfred and Georgia Mae Spence Ray.

Ralph was a U.S. Army Air Force World War II veteran. He was a member of the Enon Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and was a former Sunday school teacher. Ralph was a long-time member of the American Legion and the Greenbrier County Republican Club. He was also a founding member of the Grace Baptist Temple in St. Albans, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Madeline Hudson Ray; sisters, Betty June Ray, Wanda Louise Vest, and Peggy Sue Pickett; and a brother, James Alfred Ray II.

Survivors include his four daughters, Valerie Ray Lyons (Wayne) of Clendenin, WV, Angela Ray of Frankford, WV, Verna Ray Breaux (Dan) of Wimberley, TX, and Anita Ray Kirk (Jim) of Culloden, WV; brother-in-law whom he raised as a son, Lester Gene Hudson (Judy) of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Greg, Erin, Alegra, and Travis; great-grandchildren, Celia, Andy, Kade, and Bryn; along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel in Lewisburg, WV, with Pastor Steve Barnette officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
