Dorothy Nelson Ward, 95, of Rupert, WV, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at her home.
Born on January 19, 1923, at Winona, Fayette County, WV, she was the daughter of Robert and Bessie Dean Nelson.
Dorothy graduated from Nuttall High School. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Big Clear Creek Baptist Church. She loved to sit on her porch and visit with all of her many friends, and she enjoyed gardening and traveling. She also loved watching WVU Mountaineers play football.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Murrell Ward; son, Michael Ward; daughter, Karen Ward Spencer, and a granddaughter, Ashley Parker.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Debbie Ward Parker (Donald) of Lewisburg, WV; grandchildren, April Spencer Byars (Adam) of Lewisburg; triplet grandchildren, Michael, Brittany, and Kelly Parker of Lewisburg; and two great-granddaughters, Haley and Natalie Byars of Lewisburg.
Service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, WV, with Pastor Youel Altizer and Kelly Parker Esq. officiating. Burial will follow at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville, WV.
Friends may call from 12 p.m. until time of service at the funeral chapel.
