Phyllis Morgan Wakefield "Gam Gam," 70, of Vinton,VA, passed away in her sleep on Friday, December 14, 2018, after suffering a stroke in November.
She was born in Ronceverte, WV, on May 5, 1948. She was a daughter of the late Fred Gray Morgan and Frances Elizabeth Masters Morgan.
Phyllis devoted her life to caring for others, not only as a wonderful mother and Gam Gam, but as a daughter, older sister, and as a nurse for over 45 years. She had a very giving and caring soul, and was always there for her family and friends. Family meant everything to her and she made sure to instill that in her daughters.
She is survived by her two daughters, Morgan E. Coble (Tim) and Monica D. Slate (Victor); three grandchildren, Hunter Carlton, Devin Coble, and Gunnar Coble; two brothers, Wayne Morgan (Susie) and Bryan Morgan (Dawn); five nephews and nieces, Chad Morgan (Hope) and their three children; Amanda Morgan Asbury (Ben) and their two daughters; Matt Morgan (Ashley) and their three children; along with Walter Morgan and Krysta Morgan.
A memorial service and celebration of Phyllis's life will be conducted at McLean Church in Ronceverte on, December 29, 2018. Visitation will be from 11a.m – 1p.m, with the service to follow.
