Kathleen "Velette" Brooks, 57, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
She was born November 18, 1960, in White Sulphur Springs, WV, to James and Marie Lafon Brooks of Organ Cave, WV.
Velette was employed at GVMC for 36 years as a nurse's aide. Her passion was caring for others.
She had a heart of gold and will be missed by many. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she would start counting down the days in July.
She loved the State Fair. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She enjoyed time with her son, Jeremy. They enjoyed going shopping and to movies, and her favorite was bowling together.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby; parents, James and Marie; in-laws, Roy and Bertie Brooks; grandparents, Kathleen and Leonard Lafon and Garnette and Marshall Brooks.
Survivors include her son, Jeremy of Organ Cave; sister, Cynthia May (Craig) of Organ Cave; nephews, Anthony and Cory May; special grand-niece, Emma May; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, WV, with the Rev. Kenny Baker and Pastor James Kite officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery at Organ Cave.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 12, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Brooks, Anthony May, Cory May, Joey Jones, Jimmy White, Dicky Roberts, and alternate, Craig May.
