Ruth Bennett

Ruth Honaker Bennett, 97, of Caldwell, WV, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea, WV.

Born July 25, 1920, in Caldwell, she was a daughter of Percy E. and Elizabeth Masters Honaker.

Ruth served the Lord all her life. She was 70 years a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Caldwell, where she taught Sunday School for 35 years, and was the past president of Women's Ministries. She began attending the Community Holiness Church in Lewisburg, WV, after the devastating 2016 flood; this being the third major flood she had survived. She was a friend to everyone she met. She was famous for her applesauce cakes, breads, and fried pies. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin D. Bennett, who passed in September 1997; sisters, Lucille Scott, Evelyn Baker, and Hazel Morgan; brothers, Ralph Honaker, Lawrence Honaker, Preston Honaker, and Leroy Honaker, who had passed as an infant; and great-grandson, Hunter Allen Bennett.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Bennett and wife, Margaret, of Caldwell; grandchildren, Jimmy Bennett and wife, Krissie, Jody Bennett and wife, Shana, and Justin Bennett and wife, Sheila; and great-grandchildren, Dakota, Jarrett, Laken, Olivia, Owen, Keziah, and Madison; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services are slated for Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at 1 PM at the Community Holiness Church on Brush Road in Lewisburg with Pastor Everette "Hat" Defibaugh and the Rev. Greg Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Adwell Cemetery in Ronceverte, WV.

Family and friends may call from 11 AM-1 PM on Tuesday at the church.
