West Virginia State Officials Meet With Locals For Beef Event

An event promoting beef in West Virginia was held on Friday, June 13, at the Greenbrier Valley Farmers Market pavilion. West Virginia Commissioner of Agriculture Walt Helmick and West Virginia District 10 Senators Ron Miller and Bill Laird were present for the "Beef For Father's Day" gathering and told the small crowd about the importance of the beef industry in West Virginia and Greenbrier County.

Alderson Police Department Enforcing Animal Control Ordinance

Since March 20, the officers of the town of Alderson Police Department have been actively enforcing Alderson's animal control ordinance. The primary focus has been on "large dogs" (not on a leash), dogs that have been bitten individuals and those that have created so much noise that neighbors and citizens have complained.

New Circuit Court Judge Addresses Appointment

On May 20, Governor Earl Ray Tomblin announced the appointment of Robert E. Richardson as Circuit Court Judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit Court, which serves Greenbrier and Pocahontas counties. During a phone interview with the West Virginia Daily News on June 10, Richardson shared his road to appointment and plans for the future.

Greenbrier County Relay For Life To Be Held This Weekend

The Greenbrier County Relay For Life is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, from 11 AM until midnight at Modlin Field, next to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center and is open to the public.

Lenherr Graduates

Megan Brooke Lenherr of Lewisburg received the Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology during Hollins University's 172nd commencement ceremony on May 15.

Entries Open For The 2014 State Fair

Livestock and home, arts and garden entries have officially opened for the 90th annual State Fair of West Virginia. Paper entries for home, arts and gardens, and livestock are due July 8 by 12 PM, while online entries are due July 11 by 12 PM.
