A plan at making a skeleton key out of melted spoons, two Greenbrier County men, including one indicted on a murder charge, and a wall cavity hidden by a sink were just parts of an alleged escape attempt from Southern Regional Jail in Beckley.
"On November 15, the Raleigh County Prosecutor's Office was contacted by Prosecutor Patrick Via of the Greenbrier County Prosecutor's Office regarding a tip that a party of inmates lodged at the Southern Regional Jail were attempting a break out the weekend of Thanksgiving," reads a press release from the Raleigh County Prosecutor's Office. "With the assistance of the Raleigh County Sheriff's Office the tip was verified and subsequently investigated by the West Virginia State Police."
