Negotiations Keep West Virginia Schools Closed

Teachers throughout West Virginia will not be returning to work Monday, February 26.

On Wednesday, January 21, Governor Jim Justice signed legislation that provided teachers, school service personnel, and state police with a 2 percent pay increase, with additional 1 percent raises in both fiscal years 2020 and 2021. In addition, the Public Employees Insurance Agency (PEIA) board voted to eliminuate mandated participation in the Go365 program, the use of combined household income to determine rates, and to freeze insurance plans for 16 months while a long-term solution could be found for funding.
