Greenbrier County School Officials Announce Three-Hour Delay Option

As winter weather sets in, Greenbrier County school officials have added the option of exercising a three-hour delay in an effort to maximize learning and meet the mandated 180 days of instruction. Students receive necessary academic and social support when school is in session, and it is the goal of Greenbrier County Schools (GCS) to provide instruction and support services every day possible.

Today started off with a wonderful phone call from Dr. Coy Flowers, OB/GYN, with Greenbrier Physicians. He told me he had just posted on his two Facebook accounts that they would match donations to Penny Pitch made on #GivingTuesday up to $500.00.

Ronceverte Christmas Parade Announces Winners

Forty-eight entries participated in the annual Ronceverte Christmas parade on Monday, December 1. Despite the cold temperatures, the crowd anxiously awaited the arrival of Santa Claus. The floats were judged, and several trophies were awarded as the parade started.

Southern WV McDonald's Offering $2,500 In Grants To Local Schools

Elementary and middle schools in southern West Virginia and southwest Virginia could be one of five recipients of a $500 Balanced, Active Lifestyle Grant offered by local McDonald's owner/operators.

Mystery Piano Surfaces In Downtown Lewisburg

Over the weekend, a strange new attraction was placed in the heart of downtown Lewisburg. A white, stand-up piano was noticed outside of city hall on Saturday, and nobody is sure of its origin. No local business owners saw who left it there or when, but whoever it was seemingly wants to remain anonymous.

Woman Allegedly Embezzles From Rainelle Moose Lodge

A former employee of the Rainelle Moose Lodge was arrested Monday morning after being caught on video stealing cash from a money bag that was under her control at the time she was working as the lodge's accountant, according to a criminal complaint prepared by Rainelle Police Chief. J.P. Stevens.
